Safety

Little Robot is an educational robotics kit with electronic boards, batteries, motors, and moving parts. Before you begin, take a minute to inspect it. This helps the robot behave predictably and keeps the lesson running smoothly.

Before switching on

Check the robot before applying power:

  • the body is assembled correctly and no parts are loose;
  • the wires are secured and cannot reach the wheels or gripper mechanism;
  • the sensors, motors, and other modules are connected to the correct ports;
  • the batteries are installed with the correct polarity;
  • there are no metal objects nearby that could accidentally short the contacts.

Connect or disconnect sensors, motors, and other modules only while the power is off. Do not use metal objects to bridge contacts on the board, connectors, or batteries.

Workspace

Use Little Robot only on a dry, level surface. Keep water away from the board, sensors, motors, and batteries.

Do not run the robot near the edge of a table. Clear away anything that could get caught under the wheels or in the gripper mechanism.

During operation

Do not hold the robot by its wheels or try to stop the motors by hand. Keep fingers, hair, clothing, and wires away from rotating or moving parts.

When running a new program for the first time, use a low speed and leave clear space around the robot. If the program does not behave as expected, switch off the power before checking the wiring or code.

If something goes wrong

Switch off the power immediately if you notice:

  • a burning smell;
  • smoke;
  • excessive heat from the board, motors, or batteries;
  • unexpected robot movement;
  • unfamiliar sounds or behavior.

After stopping the robot, check the connections, batteries, and program. Do not switch it on again until you have identified the cause.

Intended use

Little Robot is designed for education, experiments, and competitions. It is not intended for systems in which a device failure could cause injury, serious damage, or disruption to critical equipment.
