Step 4 of 4

Final assembly

Bring the robot together: install the lift frame and linkages, connect the servo, and route the ribbon cables.

4.1

Installing the lift frame

Prepare the robot, the assembled gripper, the upper lift frame, wires, and screws.

Install the lift frame on the standoffs of the robot base and carefully route the wires through the chassis openings.

Secure the frame with screws. Check that the cables are not pinched and do not interfere with the sensors, wheels, or Control Deck.

4.2

Assembling the lift arms

Prepare the red arms, linkages, Y-shaped part, and fasteners for the lift.

Assemble the linkage mechanism and attach it to the robot chassis. Watch the hinge positions: the parts should move freely.

4.3

Connecting the arms to the servo

After installing the gripper and lift arms, connect the lift to the servo motor using the servo horn.

Turn the robot on. If the servo motor is connected correctly, it will return to its initial position.

Place the servo horn perpendicular to the Control Deck and secure everything with mounting screws as shown in the video.

4.4

Connecting the ribbon cables

Prepare the two long black ribbon cables included in the kit. They are used for the final module connections to the Control Deck. The video shows short colored ribbon cables, but the connection procedure is the same.

Insert the ribbon cables into the connectors as shown in the video. Do not pull on the wires: hold each cable by the plastic connector.

After connecting them, check that every connector is fully seated and that the wires are routed neatly away from the lift movement.
